Indonesia's Native Species Orchid Restoration and Conservation Project (INSORCP)

Habitat destruction, modification anf fragmentation are serious threat to native orchid
The goal of the Native Species Orchid Restoration and Conservation Project is to protect native orchids of Indonesia through the use of modern propagation science, recovery and translocation methods. A laboratory and associated facilities are located on the refuge. This project will involve and benefit state and Forestry company and  agencies to actively  collect, conserve, restore and protect native orchids in Indonesia. The Sinarmas Forestry Technology Centre (SFTC) is a primary partner in the research of propagation techniques and natural history of Indonesia's native orchids.

Orchid listed below are protected by Law, according to Indonesia's Regulation ( Peraturan Pemerintah Republik Indonesia, No. 7 Tahun 1999, Tanggal 27 Januari 1999)

May be it takes 5-10 years for a restoration project will have impacts, since propagation of orchid will require may be 1-2 years to produce seedling, and then need to grow them on nursery, that takes more 1 years. And then finally, the adult orchid restored to it's habitat and closely monitor the progres. It's a good thing to do, growing trees and growing orchids on it.

  2. seed of Aerides odoratum have been germinated in vitro, and from 4 medium I tested the 1/2 ms without hormones shows most progressive growth, it already produces leaf of 1 mm wide. kudos
