eucalyptus: Pengaruh Eksplan Orthotroph dan Plagiotroph pada tumbuhan dari Kultur Jaringan

If we used explants from trees which is a plagiotroph (not straight branch) type, the shoot will continiued to be plagiotroph type or will it become orthotroph stem (straight stem) after planting???Jaringan??

Luis Carlos Ramos • If you use micropropagation (embryos generated from somatic cells - stem cells) you should get normal plants. That's the case for coffee, a perennial tree crop, for instance. But if you use grafts, then plants would be plagiotroph also...

bir bahadur • I agree with Carlos.May be if the plant is grown in stressed conditions,(windy) it is subject to some kind of stress but in vitro the shoots should be straight.If propogated by cuttings they should also behave normally, If grown in stressed environment the curvature will gradually develop and this is due tension wood..

Easwaramurthy Ramasamy • I think,micropropagation technique is more
alike multiplication by cuttings and both are more or less sort of cloning,but
not exactly a cloning in true sense, where the offspring is produced from a single
cell, but not from growing cells,or meristem tips.and hence, there are chance for some degree of variations,but still the majority resemble the parental type.

In tissue cultured bananas (micropropagted}, the variations exceeds over four percent !

Najat Faris • I agree with You that micropropagation is a sort of cloning but this depends on the culture type, as well as the explant (not always variation take place). about the meristem culture it gives the plantlets similar to the parents.

In other species is happened.Straight tree form is very important in our industry, and choices of explants can make a different.

Piet van der Linde • From other forestry researchers using tissue culture on coniferous trees I know that the shoots developed from meristems taken from plagiotrophic branches tend to grow plagiotrophic in first instance in tissue culture, but during the rejuvenation process will start to grow orthotrophic in the lab, after which they are able to root again as well. Planting these out in the greenhouse will result in plagiotrophic growth again after a while, showing the rejuvenation process is only partial. So, you better go for propagation using somatic embryogenesis in this case.
